No one say that education is easy. We live in the "Instant generation".
I would recommend on a face to face meeting not through phone, to set up an
hour that both of you upfront seat and discuss. To bring a presentation so
in one or two slides you can explain where is the city, the region, the
rivers, the geographic definition of Transnistria, and go directly to the
personalized story - of the ghetto, the deportation, pictures past and
present. try to hear from her what she was thought at school on the pact
between Stalin and Hitler, the SS einsatzgruppen activity in 1941 Rusia,
colaboration of the locals in Jewish extermination.
Try to explain that the SHOAH in BIKOVINA and Basarabia was not in
extermination camps which everyone know the names but in other methods of
shootings, deportation , hanger and simply leaving thousands in snow an
tough winter without food shelter and water.
Its not going to be easy. But this is the way.
Like in the HAGADA oF Pesah " ןהיגדת לבינך ביום ההוא לאמור" or in
translation - you should tell your son.. .

It is our duty to transfer the memories of Czernowitz to our next
generation.
  A few days ago I got a call from my 13 year old
gd- daughter before Holocaust Day , they got a task from school
to bring some family holocaust stories up , so I must answer
some questions from a list :
  " Saba you come from the Shoah ? " Yes , little one.
     Where have you been in Holocaust ? " In Czernowitz , in the Ghetto."
     "How do you spell Czernowitz ? "Czernowitz on the Prut
     is the capital of Bukovina ! Now they call it..."
      Saba , what is this "Bukovina" ? -
      "Bukovina has a long history let me...
      No Saba no long history - in short ! What is the Prut ?
       "The Prut is a river and comes from the Carpathians ..
   " What is Carpathians ? Saba I think I have enough for now , thanks"
      "Many kisses to you and Savta too."
