The following is the most authoritative description of the situation in Cz.
Whoever is planning to travel to Cz. should bring with him/her enough drugs
and other first aid stuff.

I am relatively familiar with the Ukrainian health system leading some
official delegations, meeting with their Ministers of Health over the years
and visiting quite a few hospitals and medical care facilities.
My impression: they are in deep trouble. Lack of resources leads to poor
conditions and poor outcomes. They can't afford modern life saving
treatments (on top of sheets/toilet paper etc) and maintenance level is low.

It is to a lesser degree a problem of knowledge of the younger physicians
who are many times smart enough to go out of their area and improve their
education. And the attitude towards the patients is usually bad.
The local solutions as already mentioned were two - they either seek help
abroad (Germany is very popular, many come to Israel because of the tight
relations, common knowledge of Russian in Israeli Institutes and many health

tourism agents in the field) or go to one of the "Western" hospitals and
clinics that opened in the bigger cities and provide a western environment
by russian doctors (who again are many times not the weak link). Modern
drugs still are a fortune and if not covered by a national health system
(which does not exist) are impossible to afford to 95% of the population.
I have offered formal advice and help many times in the past but it rarely
materializes into practical issues beyond signing contracts.
On my last visit to CZ I thought I will have time to meet with people from
the hospitals and maybe offer them help in some modern aspects of cancer
control (they have a terrible cancer statistics and very low success rate in

cancer treatments). If anybody feels strong about it and is ready to enquire

we could probably make it happen in a small place like CZ.
