Dear Mimi, dear List,
The collections from Czernowitz schools that include photographs like
the ones posted yesterday (only 4 schools and a handful of photographs
per school) will all be digitized and put onto the freely-accessible
online catalogue that is the end product of the current LBI project.
Unfortunately we do not have the time or resources to digitize all the
collections we are surveying, but when we come cross something
particularly unique and not that large (like these photographs), we
endeavor to do so.
This online catalogue will be made public in the fall, probably
October, and you can rest assured I will inform the listserve when it
is complete and ready for use. There will probably also be a formal
presentation event in New York, for those of you that live there, and
possibly some other cities.
Below are the names that appear in these diploma receipts. If you are
interested in one of the names that appears here specifically, please
feel free to contact me and I will send you the image of the receipt
and photo, if it exists.
Casner, Meier, Klein, Waldmann, Cusnir (Cushnir), Baumann, Rosenkranz,
Scherzer, Edelstein, Fridmann, Goldschmied, Grinbarg, Klekner,
Orenstein, Melman, Goldig, Braiman, Cajdan, Morghenstern, Margules,
Schönhaut, Brunstein (plus Vaisberg, Cohn, and Surkes in yesterday's
post).
Best,
Julie
