Truth and Legend .
1. I am from Czernowitz Ghetto and stayed because of a Popovici permit.
2. I am not qouted on the Popovici Yad Vashem Memorial plate.
there is no such plate.
3. There is no Popovici street and statue of Traian Popovici in Tel Aviv.
In Bucharest there is a street,
4. I was very much involved in the Popovici plate project in Czernowitz
but
all of the credit goes to Mimi Taylor without whom the plate would
never have been affixed onto that Czernowitz house wall.

Subject: [Cz-L] The Traian Popovici Monument in Tel Aviv?
Czernowitzers...
Under the headline "The Hero, who Rescued 20,000 Souls, is Almost a Stranger
in His Land" the Romanian magazine "Obiectiv" from Suceava is reporting on
Traian Popovici's activities in favor of the Jews from Czernowitz and the
perception of his role in post WW2 Romania:
We learn from this article, that Hardy is one of the Holocuast survivors due
to Traian Popovici's permits, but also that the City of Tel Aviv erected a
monument in rememberance of Traina Popovici. Is that true? Where exactly is
this monument? How does it look like? Please, list members from Israel, come
back with more details!
