Subject: Re: Transnistria Memorial Day

The question is whether on this day, we want to remember that so many of our relatives, friends and fellow Bukoviners perished in Transnistria or were murdered in Czernowitz itself, or whether we want to celebrate that despite it all, some of us survived, have children and grandchildren and remember our way of life before WW1 and our Jewish Czernowitz heritage.

According to what we decide, the possible days are:
1. June 22nd, the day the German air-force bombed the airport of Czernowitz.
2. July 5th, the day of the first slaughter of Czernowitz Jews, when
2000
of our fellow Jewish Czernowitzers were murdered by Romanian soldiers,
German soldiers, gendarmes and local residents.
3. July 9th, the date on which German troops executed in Czernowitz
400 Jews and set the Temple on fire.
4. October 11th, the day the ghetto in Czernowitz was started.
5. The day deportations from Czernowitz to Transnistria started.
I am not sure what date this was.
6. The date Soviet troops conquered Transnistria,
(please, those who know supply date.) 7. March 29th, the date Soviet troops entered Czernowitz.

History in a nutshell,

Mimi
