Dear Edgar, Irene etal:

I don't understand a word of German, but as a poetry lover (and sometimes
poet) I watched and listened to each inflexion and the poignant passion in
Celan's voice as he read his immortal "Todefuge", and I was deeply moved.

Czernowitzers...

Irene drew my attention to the documentary "Duo for Paoloncello &
Petronome", 28 min., shot (direction, script, camera) in 1994 by Alexandru Solomon,
son of Petre Solomon poet and Paul Celan's friend, who effected the
translation of "Todesfuge" from German to Romanian.

The film is centered on the friendship between Paul Celan and Petre
Solomon, developed in 1946-1947 in Bucharest. On the background of a maddening
world, the two young poets have formed a so-called musical duo, transforming
their anxieties and painful memories into poems and literary games.

This documentary will be screened in Bucharest on the occasion of the
Bookfest 2013 International Bookfair on June 1, 2013, but you have now the
unique opportunity to preview the (Romanian) documentary by clicking on the
following link:

Thank you, Irene, and let's go to the movies with Paul Celan and Petre
Solomon!
