Czernowitzers...

I have added a new section to the Ehpes website: 'The Ehpes Stamp
Collection'. Actually it is a collection of postage stamps, coins,
first day covers, commemorative medallions, etc., that hopefully will
have meaning for for you.

The Album is accessible from the Menu on the Home page:
http://czernowitz.ehpes.com Click on 'Ehpes Stamp Collection'.

This will be an on-going project -- as you contribute more items, I will
update the Album. So do take a look and think about adding what seems
appropriate from your hidden collection of treasures.

As you go through the photos, take some time to read the captions at the
bottom of the photographs. I'm sure there are folks out there that can
do a better job with the captions than I did, so do let me know if there
are mistakes (spelling, contextual or otherwise), and I'll correct them
on the next go-around.

You will notice that in the 1941 Monestery series (Bukovina &
Basarabia), some of the photos are of better resolution than others.
The poorer ones I actually captured from a very interesting Romanian
propaganda video found by Edgar Hauster -- the music in which is
haunting. Can anyone tell us more about the music?

Edgar says about the video:

Glorifying the Antonescu regime and the Legionary movement, the stamps were of course banned after WW2 by the Soviet/Romanian authorities. Here is a (ultra-nationalist) video clip showing the full series:

*I hope you enjoy the Album and will think about contributing to it.

Best,
