Dear Czernowitzers,

I happened across a programme on Austrian Radio ORF, entitled "Terra
Incognita - Bukowina". It is a short story by the Ukrainian writer Mary
Matios, translated into and read in German. This is an extract from the
description:

"Who is this Mary Matios whose books sell in Ukraine, hundreds of thousands,
which was awarded the highest literary award, the Ukraine has awarded to:
the National Prize for Literature, which is named after Taras Shevchenko?
She was born in Bukovina, in a village about 50 kilometers west of
Czernowitz, grew up on the shores of Cheremosh and belongs to the ethnicity
of the Hutsul."

You can read about the programme in German here:

http://oe1.orf.at/programm/340148

or in Google-English here:

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Foe1.orf.at%2Fprogramm%2F340148&act=url

The programme was broadcast at 11.40 on 13 June, as you can see here:

http://oe1.orf.at/programm/tag/20130613

And finally, this is the link to listen to the programme (until next
Thursday, I think):

http://oe1.orf.at/konsole?show=ondemand&track_id=340148&load_day=/programm/konsole/tag/20130613

As my German is very limited, I could not get much out if this. I would be
interested to know whether this story is in fact of any real interest.

Best regards,

David
