Well, that was a hit.
 Fridric (Bubzi) Yawetz is my relative and my father's childhood friend. I
met him when he visited Chernovtsi in the late 60s. My cousin Misha is in
touch with his son who lives in Israel.
I also got very excited to see the pre-war photos from Hlyboka for the
first time, and they pictured exactly what my family told me: confident,
well-dressed people, attractive houses. When they took me to see their
house in the 60s, all I saw was a sleepy village, a neglected Jewish
cemetery and a couple of Ukranian peasants shuffling around- a lost world.
My traumatised grandmother and her 2 then adult children looked lost too.
It was a very sad visit.
