Hi Berti and Shula,
Yes, Czernowitz is on the whole world...Hannah Schauer was a good friend of
mine before the war, in the same age like me......they came from Vienna
every summer to Molid,a small village between Gura Humora and Vama, where
they had a carton factory and a cut- wood factory and a very nice villa...In
the beginning of the 1930, I went every summer there, we were related to the
Kreindler family,to the grandmother of Hannah.Amalia...yhe family Martha,
Pissi, and DR.Schauer came 1938 from Vienna to Molid alsso Arthur, the
brother of Martha Schauer,t hey were Romanian citysans...and were deporte in
1941 to Transnistria..
She married Fredy Kaniuk,(Cavin)We lost the contact until 1970, when I was
as a tourist from Romania and I paid a visit to Schauers in Haifa.
than I learned about Hannah and het two children. After our Alliya, we went
every year to our friends Hornstein in Duesseldorf, and contacted
Hannah. She told me about her daughter and her son and we remained in
contact. She is also in one of my lexicon as sculptor. In 2002 I was in
Dusseldorf and I was also in her apartment, she lived with her cousin Trude
Kreindler...Hannah was very gifted, she wrote poems too and sent me her
manuscript. She wrote me also about her illness...than I got a letter from
her son with a faire part She was a wonderful"Mensch"
Please Shula, be so kind and forward this mail to Bernard Tubiana, I wish to
send him the poems, written by Hannah with a dedication..After my death all
these german archive will go on the garbich...
Thanks Berti , for opening my eyes
Best regards
Hedwig

Subject: Re: [Cz-L] Help for Bernard Tubiana
I cannot help Bernard with the information he looks for. But speaking about
this small word that rotates around Czernowitz - in the 1950th we lived
on Palmach 25 in Haifa and the Schauer family (parents of Hanna who I
suppose is Bernard's grandmother), were our neighbors and although they
were much older we had quite friendly relations with them. We had much in
common, Cz and the Bucovina included. Of course we met Hanna too, were in
correspondence with her and her husband (Duesseldorf) and also have some
texts she wrote I think in the 1960th or 1970th.
Met Bernard's parents on at least one occasion.
Please transmit our regards to him.
Stefi and Berti Glaubach.
