[Cz-L] Lewin-Epstein

To all list members:

Since joining the Czernowitz List this time last year, I have been able to find a lot through the website about my mother's Oling/Singer/Sonnenschein family in Czernowitz.

I am now trying to find more about my father's Lewin family of Sadagora. My father's mother traced the family back to Chaskel Reisfeld who lived in the late 1700s. Chaskel's daughter Feigelia married David Lieb Lewin and they had six sons, including the Rabbi Levi Lewin.

Verbal family stories tell that we are related to the Lewin-Epstein family. At some point, a Lewin must have married an Epstein and kept both names. However, I can find no records of Epsteins in family papers or photo albums and cannot find the link to the Lewin family. We have found information on-line about Samuel Lewin-Epstein, his wife Madeleine and his father Eliahu Lewin-Epstein. Please let me know if you are part of this family or if you know anything about the family. It appears there are current generations of Lewin-Epsteins in the USA and we will also try to contact them. In the meantime, any help would be appreciated.
