In answer to both Ezra Heymann and the question
from the German pharmaceutical historian, sent to us by Steven:

I looked at the Czernowitz address books and found that in 1898
there were 5 families by the name of AUSLÄNDER in Czernowitz.
In 1909 there were 14 AUSLÄNDER families in Czernowitz.
According to JOWBR there are 13 people by the name of AUSLÄNDER
interred in the Jewish cemetery. Of these the earliest death was in 1911
and the latest in 1965.

AUSLÄNDER is a rare name among Jews, therefore it is possible
that all the families by this name in Czernowitz were related.
But it is equally possible that they were quite distantly related.
