I only found about Popovici about 2 years ago. Growing up in Chernovtsi
after the war, I always wondered why and how so many people managed to
spend the war in a relative safety of Cz while my parents and grandparents
(those who survived) came back from the camps severely traumatised and with
no possessions at all.
I think that Popovici's deeds need to be more publicised.
Recently I have attended an event in Sydeny Jewish Museum where I saw a
presentation dedicated to the famous Righteous Gentiles. Popovici was not
among them. I wrote a letter to the Education Dep. of the museum asking to
include Popovici in the presentation. Even the curators of the Sydney
Jewish Museum did not know who Popovici was.
Anyone has any ideas what can be done to change the situation?
