The North side of the Ringplatz , blown up by the Soviets in 1941 in July.
Why was it blown up ? Nobody knows, one of WW2 best kept secrets.
We ,knew the place .because it housed the Leo Koenig photo shop with
the best illustrated post cards in town.
Therefore Leo Koenig was deported to Siberia for exploiting the
proletariat.
But this was not a reason for dynamiting his and other shops.
As I said - one of the war secrets. You cant know all.
Today ,high on a socle, stands the Taras Shevchenko statue and every
August , Independence Day is celebrated.
But in 1941 this was not relevant.
