One of recent A. Appelfeld books "My Parents" (published 2013 in Hebrew)
is a voyage into the vacation his parents and young Aharon used to have on
the banks of the Pruth and the near by Carpathian mountains. The year is
before the war when Hitler threat was already known, but the Jewish
"Bourgeoisie" continue to come for vacations ignoring the destiny written on
the wall.
he tries to capture the atmosphere. I'm still in the middle of it. I read
better books by Appelfeld.

I remember going to the Mamaia beach to bath and swim in the Prut
Every summer.
Several times, and also, in 1944 during the war.
Those were the days, Gabriele.
