What hits me again and again when I see your photos is the great similar=
ity of many streets (and buildings) with such in Vienna (where I spent 3=
 Sabbatical years=2C as well as a score or two of weekly periods along s=
ome forty odd =

years of my work with and for the UN there)=2E =

When I was there=2C I liked to stroll through such streets or look at bu=
ildings that reminded me of Czernowitz=2C and despite the antisemitism o=
f part of the population - I felt at home there=2E Possibly also because=
 of the Viennese German that sounded so like that of Czernowitz
Well=2C the architects of Czernowitz did their best to copy the splendou=
r of Viennese architecture=2E =

I especially liked one or two (for instance a military =22Kasserne=22 th=
ere that so reminded me of the Residenz (I suppose the Residenz was prob=
ably a copy of that structure)=2E
