The story of the 1940 Soviet take-over of Czernowitz as narrated by a
  Rumanian patriot.
 Good writing.

Dear all,

in 1940 Mircea Streinul recommended an interesting book with poems by
Discipol Mihnea. Streinul must have been an icon at that time. Does anybody
remember Streinul and his activities and his reception in Czernowitz at that
time?
"Mircea Streinul (1910-1945), unul dintre proeminentii scriitori bucovineni
interbelici, sef incontestat al gruparii „Iconar", caruia recent i-a fost
dedicata o monografie de catre prestigiosul critic sucevean Mircea A
.Diaconu, a surprins in romanele sale (zece la numar) viata care pulsa in
preajma-i. Astfel ca nu putea sa-i scape si momentul ocuparii Cernautiului
si Bucovinei de catre sovietici, in 1940. Citeva fragmente din romanul in
doua volume Pravalia diavolului (Buc., 1942), in care sint redate aspecte
din tragedia ocupatiei si a refugiului, credem ca sint relevante atit pentru
capacitatea artistica a autorului, cit si pentru forta sa de expresie.

Unfortunately I do not speak Rumanian.

but obviously he wrote about
"Ocuparea Cernautiului"

Kind regards,
Marion
