Yes, we knew them as Banderovtsi, named after their leader; general Bandera.
As a child I thought the name came from "Bande" meaning "band" and in German
having a very negative connotation.
Starting from the summer of 1944, after we had been liberated and hoped for
peace,
the Banderovtsi roamed the countryside and killed Jews wherever they found
them.
The Poles did the same thing; Jews returning from the concentration camps
had to face the danger of being killed by their neighbors.
