For those who do not have access to the book - google "brusilov offensive and czernowitz" and you will get quite a few short descriptions and also a nice picture of Czernowitz of old.

Regards from "snowed in" Israel - well I am exaggerating a bit - we had just snow that did not accumulate in Jerusalem and Zfat, but we should get some more tonight, and it might accumulate.
