Re: [Cz-L] Hotel Bristol

The name in Cz.was most probably taken after the famous Viennese "Hotel
Bristol" just as most other local names
were given. As to the Bristol in Vienna? May be that can be googled and
found out.

There was a joke going on about that hotel and a Jewish visitor to Vienna
who got drunk and could not remember the name of the place when he got into
a taxi and was asked by the driver where he wanted to go. He said: "Hotel
Zitzlach", and the driver not understanding the address took him around all
the hotels in the center of the City until he recognized the facade of the
Bristol. "But I told you from the beginning that I stay at the Bristl he
said, why did you take me around all these places?"

In Czernowitz any Fiakerkutscher would have understood him immediately.
