To the best of my knowledge, the text about Traian Popovici
which accompanies this photograph is misleading.
As far as I can remember the Popovici authorizations to remain
in Czernowitz were handed out in the late November 1941.
By the summer of 1942, Popovici had been deposed and no longer
had any authority.
He saved the woman, Sylvia Tuttman (later Marcu),
who donated this photograph to the USHM, by hiding her
and her family, not by giving them special authorizations.
