Dear Edgar - you never cease to amaze me with your research and
contribution to our community.
Ironically, our cousin Eric was visiting with us when I opened and
found his father Rudolf Jankel, who was born in Czernowitz, on the
attached list.
Although he was aware of his father's association with the Ethical
Society in NYC's West Side, it now appears likely that Rudolf was
exposed or joined this movement while he was still a young man living
in Europe. It is little bits of information like this that we second
generation Czernowitzers treasure as we try to learn more about our
parents' lives in the old country. Thank you and please keep up the
good work! Mark Wiznitzer

Since the publication of his main work in 1908 (Die Lehre von den Geistigen und vom Volk), but especially due to his personality, Brunner attracted the spiritually young, as well as intellectuals, politicians and artists, thus creating the "Brunner-Circle". Apart from Berlin, where a Constantin Brunner Society was formed in 1925, the main center was in Czernowitz, the "Ethical Seminar" founded by Friedrich Kettner in 1919.
