Without some imagination, as well as records, you will probably never know the origin of the name. I start with an educated guess and try to work backwards. Like studying the history of the family Monasteryzka. Seeing where they lived. Seeing if some of the residents of the prewar town came from other parts of Galicia.

Ok, Hardy. On this question, here's where I get off. Sorry I have no facts to offer.
