Mimi described perfectly what needs to be done with old headstones. No, Ternopil and Tiraspol are not the same place. Ternopil is former Tarnopol.

If you sand blast them, you will blast away the inscriptions.
You have to use a medium brush, soapy water and a lot of elbow grease.
Then cut away the branches of the trees which keep them in the shade.

Possibly stupid question: Are Tiraspol and Ternopil the same place?
