Hi Fred....when I asked quite a few locals the almost inevitable answer I
got was" IF not for him and his empire we would not be the city we are
today"".....so he was very much part of Ukraine's history. Cornel

I find it curious how money is available to restore
past Austrian figureheads that are not part nor have been part of Ukrainean
history. Yet, the Temple that has been part of Czernowitz for hundert's
of years an integral part of the city, a reminder of a Jewish presence
in not so distant past. A monumental beautiful building any city would be
proud.
Is let to go to rack & ruin. How curious.....
