Good news from Lipkani Cemetery, Moldova.
I received information about the cemetery that not many of the graves were
damaged.
Soon I will get the first set of photographs, and will put some of them at
the Bessarabia SIG website.
Please contribute to the Lipkani Cemetery project... we still need money to
pay for the photos.

To all Bessarabian researchers:
You read already about a fire at the Jewish Cemetery in Lipkani, which is in
the North of current Moldova and used to be in Khotin district of
Bessarabia.
I hope that not all monuments were destroyed. According to Jewish Memory
website:
http://www.jewishmemory.md/eng/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&
Itemid=
there were 1000 graves at the cemetery, but other sources telling that it
may be twice as much.
Regardless of that I sent a person who will photograph all the remaining
graves, and at Bessarabia SIG a team of our members will index them. All
the photos will be posted to the JewishGen JOWBR and some at the Bessarabia
SIG website.
Please help with your donation for this very important way to remember, and
preserve what we can.
Any donation of $25, $50, $100, more are very welcome at Bessarabia SIG
Donation projects for Lipkani Cemetery, Moldova!
