The first trolley line in Cernauti was opened on February 1, 1939 (it
was also the first one in Romania). It was equipped with four German
MAN cars, in 1940 four more Soviet-made trolleybuses were added. In
1944 retreating Romanians took three of MAN trolleybuses with them to
Brasov. The last original MAN trolleybus was in service in Chernovtsy
until 1957, when it was transferred to Crimea to be used on the
Sevastopol-Simferopol intercity line.
