Dear Ilana,
I do not know who is charging the money, probabely the person who found the documents. "The Ukrainians" are not involved. The Jewish museum in Czernowitz is a respected institution and I'm sure the staff acts responsibly.

Hi Christian,
Are you saying that the Ukranians are making the museum buy the collection? Or, is the money to prepare it for exhibition. Who is charging $2500?
Please advise,
Ilana Gordon

The Chernivtsi Museum of Bukovinian Jewish History and Culture has a unique chance to buy a rare archive of a Jewish family from Bukovina. The archive of the Rudich family consists of 250 documents, issued in different years (the earliest document was issued in 1905, the latest one – in 1943) to Karl Chaim, Marie, Rella (Aurelie) Fani and Paula Rudich and of photographs, pictures, some personal belongings.
The archive contains different kinds of documents: cards of identity, membership, armed forces, certificates, school reports, receipts, insurance contracts, securities, various proofs, diplomas, business letters, certificates from doctors, notes of receiving money and property, draftsmanship, plans-schemes etc.
Details are here: http://muzejew.org.ua/Pomosh-A-Eng.html[http://muzejew.org.ua/Pomosh-A-Eng.html]
The museum needs donations to preserve this documents and keep it available for the public. The link above also includes bank account informations for donations.
All the best
Christian
