Much more than this.
Elena was the chairwoman of the Rumanian Red Cross.
When Traian Popovici came to Bucharest to ask for the 20000 exemptions
  He asked for Elenas assistance.
It is rumored that she threatened Antonescu to return to England
If the permits were not granted.
Antonescu , an anglophile , couldn’t let this happen and gave in.
   Is all this true ?
Lacking more plausible explanations its still very likely to be true,

Hardy ,who believes in wonders,

I didn't realize until I looked it up that at one time Bukovina had
been part of Romania. I started reading about Ferdinand because when
my grandfather's half-sister applied for citizenship, she renounced
King Ferdinand of Romania which seemed strange to me. I only expected
to see Franz Joseph. For anyone else interested in the relationship
between Ferdinand's son and his Jewish wife, check this out.

It's a story that combines elements of King David in the Bible and the
English story of King Edward VIII and Mrs. Simpson. I'm sure many of
you seasoned Bukovinans knew this but I had no idea.
