It seems to me that paying such a large sum of money for these documents
is very wrong. These documents were not acquired by their current owners
in a legal and proper manner, nor did it cost them anything to acquire them.
Now they are selling them for an exorbitant price.
It is almost blackmail.
I have a lot of my parents' and grandparent's documents,
going back to my grandfather's birth certificate in 1879.
I may give these to the museum, certainly I can give them copies
and it will not cost the museum anything.
Furthermore, if the current owners of the documents will not be able to
sell these documents to the museum, who else will want to buy them?
