Dear Czernowitzers,

Thank you for your attention to the topic that we brought up. Let us
reassure you that you owe the museum nothing. Vise verse the museum is
obliged to all the Bukovinian Jews the task of preserving Jewish historical
and cultural heritage. We began this fundraising initiative since it is a
general practice of many museums=E2=80=99 work. Noone is forcing us to buy =
these
documents. We simply wanted to do that in order to save an archive in a
whole and keep it in Chernivtsi. We cannot discuss legal matters of the
issue, at least because in Ukraine there are no laws on that matter. We
could have got engaged in a discussion on moral aspects of the issue, but
that won=E2=80=99t change anything at all. We repeat that the vendor knows =
the true
value of this archive with all original documents in good condition. And we
believe that it would be much better if these documents were displayed in
the museum as a collection, than sold separately on ebay or somewhere else
(as someone has presumed). We thank you for your attention to our
initiative and let us apologize if that wasted your time.
