Not Jewish quarter - there were no quarters we speak of the middle ages:

The Jewish quarter was called Judenstadt -Town of the Jews
The Jewish street was Judengasse -Street of the Jews
The "of the " shows ownership.

Czernowitz

Czernowitzers...

First of all thank you so much for your extremely appreciatory comments on
my first this year's photo shooting in Czernowitz. Among the Jewish
population of Czernowitz there was also one or another Luftmensch
[luftmensch], Winkeladvokat [hack lawyer], etc. - why not a
Hinterhoffotograf [backyard photographer] too? Please join me for the second
tour to the former Jewish Quarter of Czernowitz

inspired by Prof. Dr. Hermann Sternberg's article "On the history of the
Jews in Czernowitz" in Hugo Gold 's "History of the Jews in the Bukovina".

Bye, bye Czernowitz, still riding east!
