Dear Hardy
about Roata Morii I know a true story with a Jewish angle.
Stroie was a Jewish comedian and before WW II he formed together with
Vasilache a very succesful duo.
When Antonescu came to power in Rumania he wanted to humiliate the Jews so
he ordered all Jewish advocates, doctors and artists to sweep the streets
of Bucharest.
Stroe was sweeping a street when a group of antisemitic students pased by.
They recognised Stroe and said loughing "Stroe sing us something"
Stroe said OK and sang Roata Morii se'varteste etc.
Thestudents understood the message and Stroe was sentenced for 3 months in
prison.
