All of us "old Czernowitzers" are now old.
Anyone born before 1945 is now at least 69 years old.
Almost all of us spoke German as our first language, but most of us spoke at
one time or another, at least three other languages.
I think that the human brain does not organize memories according to
languages, but according to topics. That is why while we are speaking one
language we may be able to remember a specific word only in another
language.
It happens to me as well. The concept is more important than the word we
learned when we were past the age of eight.
