You have correctly translated the German note of the picture:
“Tempel,” but it was not a Temple; it was the big Synagogue, the Klaus
of the Vijnitzer Rebbe, as I remember, having learned there in the
Yeshiva 1937-40. The Rebbe and his Hassidim would be appalled to hear
that their Shil is called a Temple, the worst slander they could
imagine. A hassid would never dream to enter into the Czernowitzer
“Tempel.”
