Ruth,
Herschale was from Ostropol -a stettl deep in Ukraina.
 The stories are about him .
   He was a pankster- pulling off practical jokes.
  He belongs to the Hall of Fame of Eastern Jewish folklore.
   He was not connected to Czernowitz.
    I wish he was.
     His stories were very popular among all Ukraina Jews.

Does anyone remember some stories about, or by Herschele Ostropoler? As a
child, I often heard about this comedian, but can’t remember if he
had any connection to Czernowitz.

I would appreciate any information.
