Hi Hardy,
and ate the stamps...and than what have you done without stamps..your father
was punished because the authorities believed that he sold them...

1942,
The Germans were deep in Ukraina and
our hopes deeper than the cellar.
Father was not working and income was zero .
  Then mother got a job with the downstreet bakery.
  As bread was rationed you got stamps you used
    for getting your daily bread.
   These stamps had to be glued onto cardboard
    pages and returned to the authorities for getting flour.
       The bakeries didn't have the time or personnel for
    this and handed it out to the neighbors.
     As the stamps were without glueback you must provide
   your own glue : Egg white or flour and water mix.
      As mother was shortsighted the job went to me.
     After sticking the stamps the panel had to be laid
      for drying overnight.
        At night came the mice.
