Dear all,
Cornel's posting about Franz Joseph is =C3=A0 propos, this week.
I recently discovered an old audio tape of my father interviewing the Austri=
an novelist, Edith de Born. It dates back to about 1964, and was made in Lon=
don. Fascinating discussion, but that's another story...
Having had it transferred to CD, I listened to it last night. In it, Miss de=
Born says that she saw the funeral procession for the Kaiser in 1916. She s=
ays her father was in the procession. I looked it on the Path=C3=A9 News sit=
e, and found a film of it.=20
26 seconds in, a man walks at the head of the procession, holding hands with=
a little girl, who is also holding a teddy bear. And then she is gone.

So it's official: there are four degrees of separation between me and the Ka=
iser.=20
Maybe.
I am going to celebrate with a coffee.
Kind regards,
Shula=
