In 1941 and - 42 the Wehrmacht stood solidly
before Leningrad and Moscow and way across
the Don before the Caucasus.
The Junkers were driving the Mongol hordes
back into Asia were they came from.
For us this meant the end of the game.
The forming of extermination camps was
not official news but we knew.
Not in detail , not in papers, but we knew.
"We are lost " said our commentators.
Then a spark of hope:
The Rumanians were taking Jews
for forced labor digging defense lines near Falticeni
that is some 50 km south of Czernowitz.
Defense lines against whom ?
The Eskimos ?
