Czernowitzers, dear friends...

Come and join me for a journey of discovery to the Czernowitz Regional Archives and let's have a deeper insight into the "Book of the Month, March 2015: Chernivtsi Oblast Archives Inventory"

http://czernowitzbook.blogspot.de/2015/03/chernivtsi-oblast-archives-inventory.html

which is subdivided as follows:

Index [3]
Preface [5]
Part I: Institutions during the Austrian Period (since 1867 Austro-Hungary) 1775-1918 [19]
Part II: Institutions of the Khotyn County, Bessarabia Governorate, Russian Empire (1812-1918) [88]
Part III: Institutions of the Czernowitz Governorate during WW1 and the Russian Provisional Government [113]
Part IV: Institutions during the Incorporation of Bukovina into Romania (1918-1940) [132]
Part V: Institutions during WW2 [351]
Part VI: Particular Archival Fonds and Document Collections [360]
Appendices [365]
Listing of the Fonds [366]

Well, you'll perhaps make an objection to Ukrainian as language, but - and that's a BIG BUT - most of the subheadings are in German and/or Romanian language and so, using the search option of your PDF viewer, you can conduct your research. Let's have an example:

1. Download the book at the above mentioned site.
2. Open the PDF file in your PDF viewer.
3. Introduce f. i. "evrei" for "Jews" into the search option of your PDF viewer.
4. You'll be directed to the fonds for the Jewish Community [325] and the Jewish Hospital [1067] in Czernowitz.
5. For more details try to use an online translator, f. i. GoogleTranslate.

I know, this kind of research is not everyone's cup of tea, but one or two of you will perhaps get a starting point for your upcoming journeys of discovery to the Czernowitz Regional Archives...?!
