We were temporary unwanted guests in hostile
land.
We stayed there as long as the lords allowed us.
Then , a little pogromchik and we moved on
to placed we were not noted.
But soon they found out,
From place to place,

There was a similar situation for Jews who managed vineyards
and wineries. They were not allowed to own them, but could
administer them. My own great-grandfather was one (in Piatra Neamt,
Romania,
not Bukovina) and my great-great-grandfather (another family branch)
in Bendery, Bessarabia.
