Thanks Yossi,
The simple fact that everything in life
has two sides seems to have escaped me..
Thank you for helping out.

נושא: RE: [Cz-L] Radautz and Surroundings
Hi all,
I'm one of the silent list members. This time I'd like to share my
experience relating to Radautz cemetery headstone inscriptions.
My experience is based on about 3,700 headstones pictures of this cemetery
(pictures taken by Bondy Stenzler), for which I've prepared a database and
donated it to JewishGen JOWBR and to the Radautz KhilaLink (in addition,
about 2,000 headstones were recorded using cemetery maps and index).
The cemetery was established in 1831, and for the first decades all
headstones used Hebrew only.
Later on, some German text may be found on some of the headstones. At first,
it was the name of the deceased, put on the back of the headstone. The next
steps were:
- "German" name on the bottom of headstone front side
- Addition of some German text on the bottom of headstone front side
- Duplication of Hebrew and German text on headstone front side (Hebrew on
top)
- All German text
- All Rumanian text
In any case, particular cases depend on family attitude, as well as the
trend described above.
I hope this clears the issue
