Rudolfsplatz as it looked in May 2010.
My thought was, if I were to live in Czernowitz today that is where I'd
want to be.

Across the square is Rudolfspatz 2, where Eric Jankel's grandparents lived
when his father, violinist Rudolf Jankel, was born.

Eric had this photo of his grandfather Elias Jankel.
H
e was walking on the Hauptstrasse past the fence of the Holy Spirit
Orthodox Cathedral, possibly with his son-in-law David Engel. When we
returned from our first visit to Vashkivtsi Eric recognized the fence in
the photo.

So we walk
ed
in their footsteps.
