The road between Lviv and Chernivtsi is full of very large potholes
and in many places is completely washed out. In many places
only a narrow strip of road is navigable so that drivers have to wait
in order to let cars going in the opposite direction get through.
The road goes through:
Stryi, Kalush, Ivano Frakivsk, Kolomea and Snyatin .
At various intersections there are signposts to:
Rohatyn, Burshtyn, Kosiv, Zastavna and Kitsman.
I all these larger villages or small towns there were Jewish
communities.
There were synagogues, Jewish schools and Jewish graveyards.
All of these are gone. Some of the larger and more affluent houses,
previously owned by Jews, still stand, but most Jewish owned houses,
have been replaced by modern houses and everywhere there is new
construction.
My great-grandparents' house in the village of Klivodyn has been
replaced,
so has the house of my great-grandparents in Davidivka.
