After doing years of research, I finally stumbled on the name of the village
that my grandmother came from. She always said she was from Pa-chernovitz.
I met a guy recently, who told me that "pa" in front of a town, meant
around, or near-by. So I knew my grandmother was from near Chernovitz. I
also knew that they were somewhat rural, as they had cows! But finally, I
found that Borszczow is the name of the town.
I found that Borszczow is north of Chernovitz. I know nothing else about
it. I would love to know more. Does anyone have family from Borszczow?
Or know anything about this town? What the Jewish community was like there?
My grandma and her sister emigrated to America in 1913, to Boston. I know
that they left a couple of sisters, parents, behind. The last name was some
spelling of Broxmejer, brachsmeier, etc. Mostly, if anyone can tell me
anything about the village, I would appreciate it.
