And where did Shalom Aleichem get it from?
Either from the little village near Lviv (then Lvov) named Bibrka
or a made up word, sounding vaguely like something to do with " bobe"
or 'babe".
For some reason, in Yiddish whenever something distant in time or
location
is to be alluded to it often includes something to do with grandmother,
like: "der babes a zvok" ( a distant relative is called grandmother's
nail).
or: "in der zeit fun der babe" ( during the days of the grandmother).
