Hi Shula, I am so glad you met with Cyril, our mutual relative. He is my mother in law's first cousin. Eleanor was a Brotman. He is a sweet man. Did you meet his daughter, Anita? This means that we are also cousins, at least by marriage. For anyone searching western Canadian family, cyril is not only a Brotman, but an amateur historian and wrote a book on the Jews of western Canada. In it you will find a picture of Moses .Mo..Brotman, my husband's grandfather. And of course the history of the jews from this area. We were just up in Vancouver two weekends ago, as our son lives there. We had planned to visit cyril, but both of us had colds and didn't want to get him sick. We should meet next time we get up there. Thank you Czernowitz list, for bringing family together!
Now if anyone is related to my Czernowitz family, Braksmayer, that would be great.

Dear all,
Some time ago, I wrote to you asking if you had information about the Brotman family of Czernowitz.
Marsha Spellman kindly wrote to me with some informatiohi Sn about a Brotman relative, here in Vancouver.
I am delighted to say that I met her 90 year old contact a few weeks ago. It was an astonishing visit. A first meeting that felt comfortable and familiar... So many points of contact. My children and I were welcomed warmly, with poppyseed cake, wonderful stories and enough information to suggest that we are, in all probability, related. Distantly, but related.
I can't thank you enough, Marsha, Bruce and Jerome. My children and I are so happy to have met this family. It made a huge difference to Ben (8) in particular.
Warm regards from balmy Vancouver,
Shula
