Thank you Edgar for this wonderful post and your efforts to reach out and
follow the story of those who sought to help deportees to Transnistria.
Mention of the Alpern family makes me think back to the late Rae M.
Barent, whose family history research included the Alperns of Radautz. I
wonder if she may have been related somehow to Debora Alpern, the wife of
Dr. Albert Twers? Does anyone know more about Rae’s connection with the
Alpern family? Did she ever publish her family tree?
