Hardy's post of 7-8-15, "Rumania Test", included a link to a Rumanian folk
dance sung by Maria Tanase-Ciuleandra. This woman was gorgeous. What eyes,
What lips. I think Hardy had a thing for her. Who could blame him. But
please don't tell his wife! hah hah.
For those who wish to know more about this very talented woman, who has been
dubbed "the Edith Piaf" of Romania, please see

Hardy's post is indicative of the influence that the Rumanian period in
Czernowitz had and still has on Czernowitzers in the CZ-L group born after
WWI, specifically between 1918 and 1941, which most CZ'ers reflect
negatively upon due to Rumania's complicity with the Nazis. My dear Mother,
who was born in 1911 in Sadagura and then lived in Czernowitz from 1920-1929
before emigrating with her three siblings to New York in 9/1929, had a
Rumanian passport (which I have in my possession). She spoke fluent German,
Rumanian and Yiddish in Europe and after emigrating to the U.S., she learned
to speak fluent English, Spanish and Russian (Brighton Beach, Brooklyn NY)
and some French. She was a child violin prodigy, who at approximately 9
years of age, performed in concert in, I believe, the Vienna Court Opera
House.

Your ancestors have spent some time in this region,
If this music is strange to you, forget it.
But if it is not, something has remained.
BTW it is a dance getting faster all the time
Until complete abandon.
