Theo's parents were good friends of my Czernowitzer grandparents.

Before moving to the USA he visited my grandmother in Petach Tikva often.

Theo also dated my aunt Elisa In NYC in the early 60's, and they remained good friends.

(Closing a circle, Elisa married Josef Stein, the author of the Fiddler on the Roof, and Theo played Tevie few thousand times)

Sad.

Here is a factoid I added to the group back in 2009 (for those who might be interested now):

For your historical notes:

Famous Jewish actor, folksinger, guitarist, author, lecturer and storyteller Theodor Meir Bikel was born in Vienna in 1924. However, his parents were from Chernivtsi.

His father, Joseph Bikel (b. Josef Hasenfratz), dated my paternal grandmother, Amalie Lobl, and his mother, Miriam Bikel (b. Maria Gisela Riegler), dated my paternal grandfather, Chaim Riven Bernhard. Obviously, things didn't work out on either side, which is good for me!

Riven (Richard) met Amalie after both entered the US, in 1920.
